Revolver

Before this week I have heard of The Beatles. I have heard of how legendary the group is. I have never thought that I would be a fan of The Beatles. I must say that this group has definitely captured my attention. In particular I have a new found appreciation for the Revolver album. Prior to Revolver, The Beatles maintained a reputation for making teenage love songs. Their popularity being challenged as artist when people began to wonder what else The Beatles could do besides sing about love. Then in comes Revolver to stick to those critics. There are songs on Revolver that were questionably about love, but those songs are amongst other songs that didn't seem to revolve around love. There were non-musical influences that the band partook in and it gave flare to the album. Among many of the influences were drugs. In particular LSD or Acid. They than also began to display rock in psychedelic form that is amazing. They didn't have the technology we have these days so they used the studio recording sessions as their instrument. Developing effects that we take for granted in our sidebars, they were innovators of techniques such as double tracking. They recorded acoustic instruments and developed weird sounds and effects. Instrumentation, lyrical genius and recording techniques that The Beatles used paved the way for rock as a genre and recording studios of today. As a listener Revolver has a very hard impact. Eleanor Rigby has been stuck in my head for 3 days straight and I cannot get out of my head. When I am at work, all I can think about is how I have to hear Revolver again. I am very appreciative for The Beatles and I wish I was alive back then, just so that I could have witnessed musical history being made. As an industry professional I am inspired to be The Beatle's level of greatness. I want people doing interviews about my musical genius 50 years from now.
